Our First Friendsgiving + Found Friday Week 13

On Wednesday night we had a milestone moment at the house…we had our first meal around the table! (The same table we found for free on the side of the road! You can read that crazy story here!)

Even after all of the work days we have been spending at the house, meals usually look like Chick-fil-a on the porch or snacking throughout the day. Since we still have months away from moving to the house in May, we’ve been wanting to save some joys for those first days of living at the house: like cooking a meal and eating it around the table. However, when our friends started talking about a Friendsgiving, we knew this would be an exception! Our vacant living room made the perfect spot to set our long table & fill it together.

That morning, I went to my family’s backyard and trimmed some greenery from our nandinas, and clipped a few branches from our fall-colored trees out front. I gathered my terra cotta pots that I bought in Mexico last year, and lined the table with them. Cleaning and decorating our house with music on is my new happy place. (May 2021, hurry on up!)

For food, they made it easy on me! All I provided was the drinks and a dessert, and they filled the countertops with food! I mean filled. Way too much food for the 8 of us, but isn’t that what Thanksgiving meals are for?

We had the best time. Talking. Eating. Laughing. Sharing the most embarrassing Zoom stories from the past few weeks, and hearing about where we are each headed next in life.

Our friend Savannah made the most beautiful roasted chicken. Looked straight from a Southern Living magazine. She also made the cutest Thanksgiving dessert charcuterie board you’ve ever seen. It was filled with pumpkin pie, cookies, and little chocolate acorns she made from Hershey kisses. (I’m trying to encourage her to start a side business! I mean, who wouldn’t wanna buy one of these for their parties?!)

I’m kicking myself that I forgot to get a picture with anyone in it! But then again, we were living too much in the moment to stop, so we’ll just have to remember the night best we can.

I can’t wait for more days with friends gathered around the table. Happy early Thanksgiving!
