Kids With A House

Antique Glass Display Cabinet

A few weekends ago, my friend Lizzie and I went yard-saling! No surprise there.

As usual, we drove around scouting for random signs. There weren’t many yard sales that morning, but we eventually came across a neighborhood yard sale! The neighborhood was filled with new-builds, which typically aren’t my favorite because…

A. They have less junk to get rid of!

B. They typically think more highly of their junk-ha!

But we followed one of my yard sale rules: “go to them ALL! ” You never know what you may be passing up! Boy, am I glad we went!

We walked up to a house and started shopping along their driveway, and then I noticed a piece of furniture in their garage. Oh my. It was stunning. An old wood cabinet with glass-paneled doors. It had a little piece of hardware that looked like a feather at the top, and the pulls to open the door were equally as stunning.

Typically, when you go to yard sales, you expect to spend a little under $20. However, you occasionally come across a treasure that you’re willing to splurge for….this was one of them.

I have always adored the look of collections displayed, and I could immediately picture this piece in our kitchen making sense of all of the little things I’ve been collecting!

I thought about it, sent a picture to Elijah, and then decided to not pass it up. Eeeeeek! After I bought it, I immediately took it straight to the house. Shout-out to Lizzy for helping me manage to get it in the house!

It was the perfect fit. I’ve already had the best time filling the shelves. I’m sure its’ shelves will constantly be evolving with new finds!

For our Friendsgiving, I hung this little basket that I found at Goodwill last week on the front with a bit of greenery. At Goodwill, the basket was filled with a tragic neon floral arrangement that I quickly plucked out! It was just asking for a bit of natural greenery tucked in it.

On Instagram, someone messaged me about wanting one, and I found this almost identical one on Amazon, here!

Anyway, I am so excited to finally have a spot to make sense of my odd little finds and collections. I’m sure it will always be changing!

Hope you have a happy weekend!
