Boxed Out Porch Posts + Found Friday Week 14

We had our first “snow” of winter last week, which meant I had to run by the house to get some pictures! Even though it was just a light dusting, it was still snow. That’s rare around here! Plus, I have been meaning to snap some pictures of the boxed out porch posts!

When we first started making plans for the outside of the house, “boxing out porch posts” was on the list since Day 1. However, neither of us had any idea how much it would change the house! We think it may have changed the house just as much as the paint did?!

It also made the porch feel more like a “room” which was a fun surprise. Once we put our new door up, hang the lantern (which just came in this morning, EEK!), install the daybed swing, and lay out a rug, we may spend just as much time out here as we do in our living room!

I can already picture those early mornings spent cozied up on the daybed swing with a book & those late summer nights spent with friends on the porch.

When we hung our tree swing in the front yard, we intentionally put it close to the porch so we could talk from the daybed swing to the tree swing.

I’m also just continually amazed by the amount of things Elijah knows how to do…& do so well?! He spent hours & hours on this porch, which of course, makes it all the more special.

Also, thanks to one of his best friends, Luke, the building went a lot quicker & was more fun! Our friends are amazing.

We boxed out every single post the same size-including those posts against the house, which really made the porch seem more substantial. Rather than using an accent wood, we wanted to paint them the same color as the house to stay truer to its original 1920’s farmhouse. (Color is Silos White.)

I was super inspired by this porch I found on Pinterest. (Couldn’t find the original link!)

Let’s just take a moment & appreciate the before & after. Wowzer. Me oh my, this house has received quite a bit of love since then!

Like I mentioned earlier, our porch lantern came in this morning & when I got the call that it had arrived, it immediately felt like Christmas morning. It’s going up today! Also, we took the front door to get framed yesterday, so it should be ready to roll Monday! The porch is starting to come together! Next on the list: front porch steps that run the length of the house, shutters, landscaping, and driveway. Taking it one day at a time! Thanks for following along our journey-it’s been so much fun sharing it here!

Found Friday Week 14

It’s back! We took a week off last week for Thanksgiving, but this week’s finds make up for it! I’m a huge fan of decorating with collections. (Proof with our new piece of furniture here.) And I think that these glass pitchers would make the most beautiful collection displayed in a kitchen. Beautiful for decorating & beautiful for hosting.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a great weekend!
