Tree Swings + Dove Scouting

Elijah’s been staying busy building these days. When it’s not for our future house, it’s for someone else’s!

It always seems like he’s building & installing a daybed swing on someones porch. During the quarantine, he built tons of raised garden beds & we were always delivering to someone’s backyard! This week, he’s working on building a floating desk with shelves, and he spent today installing wooden posts in someone’s backyard for string lights.

There’s no telling what he’s up to. I’m constantly receiving photo updates of whatever the day’s building project is.

What makes me laugh is, whenever he shows up to jobs, a lot of the times I’m his helper in tow. AKA the extra set of hands to lift the daybed swings and pass him the tools. Ha!

Last week, I joined him on a fun project. He built & installed a tree swing in the dreamiest spot.

It kinda looks like it could be a painting.

A few weeks back, Elijah shared a whole tutorial on how to make your own wooden tree swing. (& an option to buy a pre-made one as well! Scroll to the end of that post if you’re interested in those details!)

Also, we are loving our tree swing more than ever. We’ve fallen into my new favorite tradition: after we go to church on Sunday mornings, we drive to the house & swing for a bit before lunch with family.

Honestly, every time I get in the car, I’m tempted to take a route past our house just so I can swing for a second.

I snapped that pic on Sunday morning after church. The tree swing + that weather + the view of our little house just needed to be remembered.

I also snapped this one of the trees. The light in the leaves was just so beautiful.

In classic Elijah fashion, after we hung the swing, we had to run by his hunting fields and scout for doves. Scouting is always fine by me, because you really can’t beat a country drive on the backroads of Tennessee. When we got to the field, I hopped out of the truck to grab some pictures of these cute cows. We both dream of farm views like this one day. We may or may not be getting chickens in the backyard of our house
