Our First Christmas Home Tour

Come peek inside our first Christmas home tour!

I’m the oldest of three girls. Yet, every Christmas morning growing up, it was I- the eldest- who woke everyone up at the exact time we always bargained with our parents the night before. I have always loved Christmas.

My sisters and I started the tradition a few years back to make a big pallet in Lila Mae’s bedroom floor where we would all sleep together Christmas Eve. Last year, our twenty-one, nineteen, and sixteen year old selves laid there on the pallet, realizing it was the last Christmas Eve like we had always known. We knew that the following year a new chapter would unfold.

It’s not as sad as it sounds- I think the girls are honestly relieved to know their big sister won’t be there to wake them up at 5:58AM this year, ha!

I couldn’t be more thrilled for this new chapter. This year, I get to wake my husband up! Funny thing is, Elijah is also the eldest of three siblings, and based off the Christmas family videos we’ve watched of him- we are the exact same way when it comes to Christmas! We are the ones who make sure everyone is awake & get way too excited about everyone else’s gifts. Haha! Needless to say, I’ve been dreaming about this Christmas morning for so long.

I wanted our house to feel extra special this year, and I had the best time working on the inside. The outside was a labor of love from Elijah…I can’t wait to take pictures of it next! I’m not always the best at documenting things, but I knew we would want these pictures to look back on twenty Christmases from now.

There’s a little Christmas magic in every nook!

The Foyer

Last year, I went to a few of my favorite shops in town right after Christmas to shop their half-off holiday sections! I’ll be going back this year! MJ Home and Homegrown Marketplace are two of my favorites for Christmas sales.

The Living Room

The living room is probably my favorite “Christmas” room. When it is dark outside and all the lights are off, the Christmas lights work their magic. In the early mornings and evenings, this is the place to be.

The Kitchen

Last year, I bought those vintage Christmas glasses on the shelves at a thrift store. I think it is so fun to change ordinary things to celebrate during the holidays- things as simple as drinking glasses! I want to pull them out every year!

Our Bedroom

Inspired by Elijah, I like to keep our bedroom woodsy, so when I found this “Peace” banner and those stars made out of wood, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate our mantle for Christmas! Super natural, with a little whimsy!

The Studio

In the days leading up to Christmas, I’ve been spending a lot of time in this room working on custom houses for Daisy Sue Design! I didn’t go overboard in here, but the little hints of Christmas make me smile.

Hope you enjoyed our first Christmas home tour!

As I continue to think of ways to make Christmas special for Elijah and I, I’d love to hear some of your favorite Christmas traditions in the comments below! I know others would love reading through them as well! What are some of your favorite Christmas ideas or traditions?

Wishing a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. Just four sleeps away!

Love all the details! Such a pretty home for the holidays. I’ve been married for 14 years and have 3 children. We have lots of traditions I love. Some of my favorites are getting the kids an ornament to describe their year. My husband and I also do this for each other. I host a Breakfast with Santa and have friends come and have their pictures taken with Santa while hanging out and eating breakfast. I also have a tree in my house that is my Remembrance Tree. I have angels on it and pictures of those whom have passed away that are special to our family. It gives me a way to honor them and think of them during the holidays. Also, have this Christmas memory book I’ve had since I got married. I fill it out each year describing our Christmas and add our Christmas card. It is so special to me. As you can see, I LOVE Christmas too!! Hope you guys have a wonderful first married Christmas together!!

Eryn, I love all of this! I love the idea of getting ornaments that describe each year, and I love the Breakfast with Santa idea!! That tree idea is so sweet too, my mom is doing a similar one next year to fill with frames of family photos. I’m also totally starting a Christmas memory book THIS year. So glad you shared these ideas! Haha, we totally love Christmas on the same level! Thanks again for sharing!
