Well, first blog post in over a year…hello again! I’m not sure if it’s the baby on the way or the weather warming up, but I’ve had an extra dose of creative energy lately! I thought I’d hop on here & share one of my favorite DIY gifts with you, hand-painted porcelain plates! Ever since Anna Bond posted her painted plate on Instagram, I’ve been having the best time creating these as gifts!

A few years back, I gifted one to my mom with all of our family’s names on it. Last year, I gifted plates to a group of ladies at church who hosted a wedding shower for us. Each of their plates had their wedding anniversary on it. I also gifted a plate last year to a friend getting married with her soon-to-be wedding anniversary. The list of how you could use these as gifts could go on & on!

I didn’t take a beautiful picture of them all wrapped up, but thankfully I did snap a quick picture with my phone above! I love presenting them wrapped in a cellophane bag with a gingham bow tied on top.

Supplies
- PEBEO Porcelaine 150 Assorted China Paint Fine Tip Marker
- Porcelain Plate– I linked some similar ones on Amazon here, but I got mine from TJMaxx and Home Goods for about $3 a plate!
- Rubbing Alcohol or Water
- Q-Tips
- Paper Towel

Steps
- Start by cleaning & drying the plate! Make sure the surface is clean before beginning.
- Shake the pen! You will have to press the tip repeatedly to get the ink to the tip. I just blot the pen on the plate, and use my q-tip or paper towel to wipe up the marks I made.
- Begin drawing! I think the key to a beautiful blue and white plate is focusing on symmetry. If I draw a flower at the top, I repeat the same flower on the bottom. Of course you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to! As you make mistakes, dip your q-tip in rubbing alcohol or water to wipe off. The ink comes off so easily!
- Once you are done, allow the plate to air dry for 24 hours. Then, bake in the oven for 35 min at 300F.
- Gift to a friend (or to yourself) & enjoy!
TIP: Store your pen horizontally, so the ink doesn’t dry up!

I think these would also make such a fun girl’s craft night activity!
