Well, here we go.
First post on the Fernway blog! I’ll explain the name here in a bit.
This blog has been a thought I’ve been dwelling upon for a while, and I figured what better time to start than now? While 2020 has left quite a name for itself, it’s provided an ample amount of time to refocus & act upon those buried ideas.
Not to mention, 2020 has also held some of the happiest days in my life. My best friend asked me to marry him, and we are planning our life together. (More of this story to follow!) My middle sister graduated high school, and she is decorating her dorm room. My baby sister just started to drive, and she just bought her first car. So, within the world’s chaos, there is so much good.
Okay, Fernway. What does the name mean?
Like I said, my best friend asked me to marry him about two weeks ago. His name is Elijah Montgomery, and he’s about the hardest working dude you’ll ever meet. We met in 5th grade & went to the same elementary and middle school together. For 9th grade, we went to separate schools, and reunited our junior year when he asked me to my school’s prom.
The rest is history. Our entire junior year was basically spent on his family’s farm, where we spent countless afternoons four-wheeling around and talking for hours on end. After months of becoming best friends, we began to date.
Slowly, we learned that we shared more than just fun date nights and movies. We shared big dreams and goals for life. Dreams and goals that we both loved working towards together.
One of his big dreams was buying his first house, and one of the first house auctions he went to was on “Fern Way.”
We think it’s only appropriate to name his business and this blog after one of the street names in our venture to pursue a dream.
While I don’t have any grand advice to give, or the Pinterest-perfect everything, I would love to simply document our story on this blog. I also have some amazing people in my life who have great stories to tell, and I love to share a fun project or party idea when I find one.
As a Christian, I believe that we are called to live life to its fullest. The fun thing is, I believe we were each uniquely equipped by our Creator with gifts and passions to do so. Let’s become more of who we were made to be.
The stories shared on this blog are in hopes to encourage or inspire yours. While every story looks completely different, all are beautiful. The ideas shared here are in hopes to inspire you to more fully use the gifts and passions you were created with.
Here we go!
