Well, at the start of this day, our little house looked so empty.
Little did it know, a few hours later, it would be filled with furniture! Whew. This morning was the furniture jackpot! Last week, a sweet lady in town let us know about a sale they were having in Smyrna, TN on Friday & Saturday. Of course, I was in! I’ve been on the hunt for furniture pieces lately, so I wanted to go early to the sale since furniture typically goes first thing!
This morning my mom & I got there around 7:30, & I had no idea how HUGE it would be! There were two tents full of treasures. Turns out, it was an estate of an antique dealer & things were priced to sell by his family. That equals= yard sale jackpot.
When we walked up, I saw rows & rows of old wood furniture, and immediately put a “SOLD” sign on 5 pieces. Ha! Elijah was dove hunting, so I face-timed him during the hunt to get his opinion on everything! (He’s the sweetest. I literally face-timed him in the middle of a hunt & he happily answered.) I got his approval of the furniture & we loaded up my mom’s suburban! We drove straight to the house to put it all in, & I felt like a kid decorating my doll house! The weirdest, happiest feeling.
In addition to our finds for the house, I gathered a little Kitchen Collection for Found Friday Week 4! It’s going to be hard for me not to keep it all. You can shop those HERE, and see more pictures of the finds at the end of the post!
New (To Us) Furniture
Our “Pantry”
By far, this was my favorite piece of the morning. While 100-year-old houses bring a lot of charm, they don’t bring a lot of storage! We actually don’t have a pantry, but that wasn’t a deal-breaker for us. We knew that we’d have to get creative, and I knew that this piece was the answer as soon as I saw it this morning!
I can’t get over the inside either!
Butcher Block Island
Our house is also super tiny. A.K.A. the perfect size for us!
The kitchen doesn’t have much room, but I’ve always loved the look (& practicality) of a kitchen island. Not to mention, the storage it adds! That’s a common theme around here: storage! Preferably, good looking storage.
This little butcher block island was practically made for our kitchen! At the sale, it looked too small, but once we set it in the house, I realized that if I had gotten anything bigger, I wouldn’t be able to open the oven door…
Little Kitchen Cabinet
We actually didn’t get this piece this morning, but we got it this week, so I had to share it! One of our friends texted us to let us know about a yard sale they were having & let us come pre-shop the night before! We walked around with our flashlight & spotted this lil guy. $15! I thought it was so cute. And again, the theme for the house, STORAGE!
Bedroom Dresser
And THIS dresser. Maybe this is my favorite? I can’t really choose. Me & Elijah had fallen in love with a dresser just like this at a local shop, but hesitated on buying it. When we went back, it had sold & we were bummed! Funny thing is, the dresser at the store was more than what we paid for everything this morning…not so bummed anymore!
Wooden Rocking Chair
In the Magnolia Journal this month, there was an article written by Bethany Douglas (one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers) on rocking chairs, and after reading it, all I wanted was a rocking chair for our new house. She so beautifully talked about how rocking chairs have provided a constant, comforting rhythm to generations now. I hope this rocking chair does the same.
Small Wooden Chair
Me & Elijah have lots of dreams for this house & one of those is hosting people. Growing up, my family kept chairs around to pull out when people came over & we needed extra seating. I hope these chairs are pulled out a lot. 🙂 Good thing is, they are super cute sitting out too!
Small Wooden Chair #2
It’s far from full, but it’s a step closer. I think this week we are going couch shopping. That will be a first for us! This season of life has been full of “firsts,” and I’m not sad about it one bit. Exciting stuff. If you have any couch shopping tips, let us know, ha!
Wooden Mirror
It wasn’t $5 like the last mirror we found, but I’m thrilled with this one! Since we have 3 mantles to decorate, I knew it could go on one!
Kitchen Collection for Found Friday Week 4
- Small Wooden Bowl
- Mini Glass Pitcher
- Set of 3 Cookbooks
- Set of 2 Cookbooks
- Set of 2 Cookbooks, including the sweetest book, Housekeeping in Old Virginia.
This little collection was curated with the kitchen in mind. The old cookbooks are so sweet propped up & styled on a shelf or a countertop. In my opinion, you truly can never have too many old books when it comes to decorating.
You can shop everything HERE.
Thanks for reading!
