It’s been a great week around here-hope the same for you! Elijah and I started back to school on Monday, so we know May 22nd will be here in the blink of an eye! We’ve gotten a better hang of being online for school these days & have actually started to discover the perks of it…Elijah’s favorite perk being zooming in the duck blind.
This is Elijah’s last semester of school, so “adulting” is knocking on our door. I’ve been on the hunt for a summer internship, and had my first interview this week! Once I wrap up an internship this summer, I’ll also be done with school! After that, neither of us know quite yet what our jobs will look like, but we just keep taking the best next step.
In the meantime, we keep dreaming up more ideas for the house…this morning I thought I’d share with you our kitchen vision and inspiration!
1. Fresh Coat of White Paint
The first thing we want to do is paint the kitchen white. Our house has super tall ceilings everywhere but the kitchen, so I think brightening it up with white paint would help it from feeling so much smaller than the other rooms. The other day I pulled out our white paint samples from the exterior and put them on the walls in the kitchen. Thoughts?
2. Oatmeal Colored Cabinets
The next thing we want to do is paint our cabinets an oatmeal-tone. I was inspired by the photo above! Also, I have all brass pulls that I got at a yard sale for $5 a while back, so I think the brass will look so sweet on these colored cabinets.
3. Beadboard Backsplash
To stay true to our 1922-farmhouse-self, we’ve fallen in love with the idea of a beadboard backsplash.
4. Open Shelving
I already shared here about how Elijah and his friend did a quick renovation after the National Championship Game and took out our kitchen cabinets over the oven. The vision is to replace that space with open shelving. I was always set on wood shelving, but I’m kind of loving the idea of a painted shelving. We’ll see what happens.
Since we don’t have a pantry, I’m getting air-tight containers to store our baking essentials on display.
5. Hanging Copper Pots
Probably my most exciting part of the kitchen vision: hanging copper pots.
Before Christmas, I found an auction selling copper pots & I bought a set. They’re both functional & beautiful! Under the open shelving, we want to hang the pots, something similar to the picture above.
6. Concrete Countertops
Elijah’s already been doing the research on this project: concrete countertops. We love the budget-friendliness of them + the industrial look they’ll give to our old farmhouse kitchen.
First Few Days at the House
I think I’ve about worn you out on sharing our kitchen inspiration! I get kind of excited about these things, if you can’t tell. When I was looking through photos of the house, I came across this picture of the kitchen from the first week we bought the house. It’s already come a long way!
We can’t wait to get started & share more. As always, thanks for stopping by! It’s such a joy sharing with you!
